A smart French bistro promising a chic and slightly nostalgic taste of Paris opens in Notting Hill next week. Chez Lui, in Kensington Park Road, is the first offering from La Bistrot Collection, a new group from the duo behind the global restaurant brand Bagatelle.
In its Instagram previews, Chez Lui is pitched as a ‘cosy, intimate and unpretentious home from home for those who know how to linger’ – with a little ‘joie de vivre’ thrown in.
The founders are French entrepreneurs Rémi Laba and Aymeric Clements, who launched the first Bagatelle in New York in 2008, inspired by the South of France. There are now 16 restaurants and beach clubs around the world under the name, including one in Mayfair. The next opening from La Bistrot Collection will be Café des Lilas in Mayfair.
The preview menu at Chez Lui includes: Egg mayonnaise with tarragon and pickled mustard seeds (pictured); Fried purple artichokes with celery pesto and trout roe vinaigrette; Sea bass carpaccio seasoned with fresh citrus; and Knife-cut beef tartare with chimichurri sauce.
Bookings are open from next Wednesday, 25 June.
