The name reflects Galetti’s Samoan heritage (Mere is Samoan for Mary – her mother’s name).

It will occupy the ground floor and basement of the site, which, strangely enough on Charlotte Street, was not previously a restaurant. The ground floor bar will seat 25, with a 70-cover dining room downstairs.

According to Caterer the menu will be seasonal and ingredients led, the restaurant itself promises to be a much more casual affair than Galetti’s previous home at Le Gavroche. Earlier this year the senior sous chef announced she would leave her post at the iconic Mayfair restaurant after 12 years with a view to opening her venture. The decision was prompted by ‘a major life event’ – something Galetti has not elaborated on.
