Iconic Southall restaurant Brilliant is to close next month after 50 years, to be replaced by the new Brilliant Gastro in the town’s nearby Green Quarter.
The restaurant was founded by Gulu Anand in 1975, becoming a stalwart of the west London suburb’s famous south Asian dining scene, with guests including King Charles. The founder’s entrepreneurial daughter, Dipna Anand, took over the business several years ago, broadening it into catering, a cookery school and a restaurant in Milton Keynes.
She says: “It may be the end of an era for Brilliant Southall, but after 50 years, the Brilliant brand has gained an iconic status in Indian dining, and we have to ensure that it is constantly evolving to both reflect the preferences of diners, and the food I love to eat, so there’s something delicious for everyone.”
