Bambi leaps into the New Year

Bambi, the London Fields restaurant and record bar from James Dye of Shoreditch hit One Club Row, is closing next week for a three-week refurb that will see it doubling in size with an expanded kitchen.

Head chef Jamie Thorneycroft, who joined last year, is putting together a menu that takes advantage of the new charcoal grill and dry-ager ahead of the relaunch scheduled for Tuesday 3 February.

The venue has taken over a vacant building behind its back wall, knocking through to incorporate a dining room to seat 70 guests, including a new mezzanine level and an expanded outside courtyard area. The ‘record wall’ and DJ booth will be pushed back to the new rear wall.

There will be DJ sets every night, with the promise of mini-raves at the weekend, when the tables will be pushed aside after service to create a dance floor.
