A Greek gift in Brum

An upscale modern Greek restaurant has opened in Birmingham’s Colmore business district, having taken over a former All Bar One corner site in the Grade II listed Cornwall Buildings.

Cylla – named after the man-eating sea monster of Ancient Greek myth, also spelt Scylla – aims to present a “sophisticated approach to Mediterranean dining”, with classic Hellenic dishes like lamb kleftiko, beef stifado and tzatziki prepared in a contemporary style. The menu is accompanied by a list of premium Greek wines and cocktails incorporating traditional spirits including ouzo.

General manager Adonis Maniadakis said: “I’m thrilled to open Cylla, and to be able to share my Greek heritage with the city of Birmingham. We want to deliver a unique experience to our guests, which transports them to the shores of the Greek Islands.

Cylla is an elevated take on traditional Greek cuisine – we’ve created a touch of glamour while retaining the authentic flavours and warmth of Greek hospitality.”
