Featured Scotland Restaurants
2. Sukhothai
Thai restaurant in Leeds
8 Regent St - LS7
2022 Review: Feedback remains limited but remains very positive for this Chapel Allerton Thai (part of a local group), which hits twenty years old in 2022.
3. Salvo’s
Italian restaurant in Leeds
115 & 107 Otley Road - LS6
This “reliable Leeds stalwart” has served up “good Italian cooking” for 46 years under two generations of the Dammone family. Founder Salvatore’s sons John & Gip retired in summer 2023, but the new owners have promised to carry on their traditions, with the same staff in place.
4. Buon Apps
Italian restaurant in Otley
Hartley House, 50 Mill Way - LS21
A “fantastic setting beside the River Wharfe” provides the perfect backdrop for “good Italian food and friendly service” from Alessandro & Sofia Elena Tocca, who have established a strong local following over more than 20 years. Their Italian take on the classic Sunday roast is a highlight of the menu.
5. Zucco
Italian restaurant in Leeds
603 Meanwood Road - LS6
This “authentic local Italian with a difference” benefits from an “excellent variety of imaginative small plates” and “enthusiastic service led by the family owners”. One of “the most enjoyable dining experiences in Leeds”, it’s “worth the trip out of town” to Meanwood.
6. Bavette
restaurant in Horsforth
4 - 6 Town Street - LS18
Opened In February 2024, a contemporary bistro in Horsforth from Yorkshire-born chef Sandy Jarvis, returning after a successful decade in London. Low-intervention wines are a major focus: co-founder Clement Cousin grew up on a biodynamic vineyard in the Loire Valley, and his family's wines are on the list.
7. Dastaan Leeds
Indian restaurant in Leeds
473 Otley Road - LS16
Nand Kishor and Sanjay Gour’s July 2022 launch follows on from the phenomenal success of their first Dastaan, in the outer London ’burbs. This northerly sibling is a tad more upmarket than in Ewell, but many dishes are shared between the restaurant’s two menus. Local popularity has quickly propelled it to No. 1 in the Leeds Tripadvisor rankings, but our local reporters seem harder to impress – they say its “small but well-executed menu is very good”, but have so far stopped short of awarding it an outstanding average rating.
8. HanaMatsuri
restaurant in Meanwood
580 Meanwood Road - LS6
2023 Review: In January 2020, chef/patron Kaoru Nakamura changed direction at his small Japanese venture in Meanwood to adopt an omakase-style format. Feedback so far is too limited for a rating, but the odd report we receive tips this as a contender as Leeds’s foremost dining experience. For £135 per person, you receive a selection of nigiri, sushi rolls and small plates with miso soup, tea and homemade ice cream. Other dishes (A5 grade Wagyu beef sashimi or spider roll) can also be pre-ordered as supplementary dishes. More reports please!
9. Manjit's Kitchen
Indian restaurant in Woodhouse
333 Kirkstall Road - LS4
“You don’t miss the meat as the flavours are delicious” in Manjit Kaur’s veggie cooking, available at her restaurant on Kirkstall Road and her stall at Kirkgate Market – which is “still a favourite for street food in Leeds”. Manjit started out making food in her kitchen at home for delivery in 2010, slowly developing the business with her husband Michael Jameson over the next 10 years.
