Summary
Nand Kishor and Sanjay Gour’s July 2022 launch follows on from the phenomenal success of their first Dastaan, in the outer London ’burbs. This northerly sibling is a tad more upmarket than in Ewell, but many dishes are shared between the restaurant’s two menus. Local popularity has quickly propelled it to No. 1 in the Leeds Tripadvisor rankings, but our local reporters seem harder to impress – they say its “small but well-executed menu is very good”, but have so far stopped short of awarding it an outstanding average rating.
Summary
Ex-Gymkhana chefs, Nand Kishor and Sanjay Gour have stormed London’s outer burbs with their outstanding Ewell-based Indian restaurant and now, in July 2022 have opened ‘up north’ in Adel – one of Leeds’s northerly burbs. Judging from the pics, the decor in this newcomer is a tad more upmarket than in Ewell, but admittedly that’s not setting the bar super-high. Many dishes are shared between the two menus – if they can replicate their success in Surrey this could be one of the more exciting openings in the city in recent years.

"Outstanding Indian food with good service. Atmosphere was a little lacking but the food more than made up for it. Tandoori broccoli was an incredible piece of cooking elevating such a basic ingredient, but all around this was delicious, clean fresh Indian food that busts the stereotype of many Indian restaurants. Fresh, clean, not greasy. And an amazing balance of flavours."
