Featured Cirencester Restaurants
1. MBB Brasserie
British, Modern restaurant in Cirencester
The Cornhall 26 Market Pl - GL7
“Excellent food” and a “lively atmosphere” can be found at this brasserie set in the Corn Hall covered market in the centre of town, that has developed over 15 years from a deli and was formerly known as Made by Bob… although the founder is James Parkinson.
2. Tierra & Mar
Spanish restaurant in Cirencester
29 Sheep Street - GL7
“The traditional Spanish tapas with an English twist are much better than average”, say fans of this “tucked-away spot on the outskirts of a town surprisingly short of decent restaurants” – a big local favourite. It’s owned and run by Spanish-born Silvia and her husband, chef Brett Russell, who uses produce from his parents’ nearby smallholding; they added a bar for lighter bites last year. Top Tip – “lunch is a steal”.
3. Barnsley House
British, Modern restaurant in Barnsley
2021 Review: Owned by the same folk as The Village Pub, just across the road, this “very fancy” boutique hotel turns out “solid cooking with bold flavours”, and uses “a lot of produce straight from the garden”.
4. The Bell at Sapperton
British, Modern restaurant in Sapperton
2021 Review: A “charming, lovely and well-run village pub” that “has had its ups and downs, but seems to be on an ‘up’ at the moment”; and serving an “interesting but not over-ambitious menu”.
5. Jolly Nice Farm Shop
British, Traditional restaurant in Frampton Mansell
The Old White Horse Filling Station, Cirencester Road - GL6
This “innovative rustic drive-through” in a converted country petrol station offers “brilliant fresh food that packs flavour” – and boasts impeccable provenance: where else could you feast on burgers from shorthorn cattle or sausage rolls from rare-breed pigs reared and butchered on the property? There’s a meadow for picnics, a shop stuffed with produce from the farm, whose third-generation owners made the switch to sustainable regenerative agriculture 10 years ago – and “friendly service from enthusiastic young staff who are always smiling!”
6. The Potting Shed
British, Traditional restaurant in Crudwell
The St - SN16
“Very good chateaubriand…”, “one of the best chicken supreme dishes ever…”, “outstanding cheese soufflé…” – all dishes that have reportedly been enjoyed this year at this cosy beamed pub in north Wiltshire.
7. Temple Mama
Pan-Asian restaurant in Cirencester
9 Swan Yard, West Market Place - GL7
2022 Review: “Something really new for Cirencester”, this “calming” but always “busy” spot (est. 2019) is run by Ting Ting Mokume, who draws on her Singaporean heritage with steamed buns, buddha bowls and tiap-tiap (small eats) that go down “a real treat”. There’s also a newer sister restaurant at the Five Valleys indoor market in Stroud. As of November 2021, the restaurant is ‘temporarily closed’, but we’ve maintained its listing.
