Summary
“Reliably enjoyable and interesting” Keralan dishes are the attraction at this crowd-pleasing outfit from prolific local restaurateur Michael Raphel (Prithvi, Holee Cow), who was inspired by the flavours his chef grandfather brought from South India as an immigrant 50 years ago. A switch from fine-dining to a more casual approach a few years back has paid dividends, and now there is a spin-off in Oxford. Top Menu Tip – “the thali are particularly wonderful”.
Summary
“Absolutely fantastic” Keralan scoff generates huge enthusiasm for this Cheltenham original and its Oxford spinoff: “I’d gladly eat their dosas for the rest of my days – in fact I’m salivating just by writing about them!”. In 2018, after trading for six years, Bhoomi “shifted its offering from fine-dining to a mid-range approach”, with BBQ and thali options – “and if anything, the cooking is even better”. “Gorgeous interior, great staff, exceptional food – what more could you want?”.
Summary
After six years in business this popular Indian closed its doors in August 2018… only to relaunch with a new Indian BBQ and South Indian plates concept (plus thali deal) just weeks later. On early reports, it’s “another great addition to the surfeit of excellent locals”, delivering “sublime food and exotic tastes”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"The Keralan cooking is always good and the service is lovely. it's less ambitious than Prithvi (same ownership) but in some ways quite a lot nicer. At lunchtime the thali are a delight. "
