Larry’s to host guest chef series at Peckham restaurant

This August, Larry’s in Peckham will launch a summer collaboration series called ‘‘On Special”, inviting friends and chefs including James Cochran, Selin Kiazim, and Nud Dudhia to put their own spin on the restaurant’s New York-inspired sandos and small plates.

Collaborators have been given free reign with their creations and have each been encouraged to use as many signature ingredients and preparations as possible to create their dishes.

Each chef’s dish will appear on Larry’s dinner menu for one week only starting from Tuesday August 3 and continuing into September. Founders Nicholas Balfe, Mark Gurney and Matt Bushnell have also called upon Rob Casson from King of Feasts and Ixta Belfrage of Ottolenghi fame to partake.

Kicking off will be James Cochran, a fellow Peckham local and founder of 12:51 restaurant in Islington. He’ll be serving his questionably named ‘Slut Drop’ sandwich – a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich topped with crispy chicken skin, pressed jerk potato, Ogleshield cheese, shallots pickled in Red Stripe and gravy mayo.

Second in the line-up is Selin Kiazim who has drawn upon her Turkish Cypriot Heritage and passion for bringing together unusual flavours with her crispy pomegranate glazed lamb breast and yoghurt. See the Larry’s website for more on the line-up.

Larry’s founder and chef Nicholas Balfe said: “It feels like summer has been a long time coming, and to celebrate these brighter days, what better than to bring together some good mates and some of the best chef talent to try their hand at a Larry’s dish!

“Since we opened in July last year, the restaurant has gone through several lockdowns, but has still really come into its own – the team and I have spent the last few months evolving the menu, so look forward to welcoming people in to try it”.
