Westbury On Trym, Fish & Seafood Restaurant Guide

“Small, friendly, super fish” – the MO of Mitch Tonks’s longtime Bristol outpost, the former Rockfish Grill, which is “slightly old-fashioned” (a “proper restaurant with proper tablecloths”) but whose “beautifully fresh” catch, shipped in daily from Cornwall, makes it “so good” by absolutely all accounts.

This “lively place on Wapping Wharf does what it does very well” – namely tasty tapas (as per its sister Bravas), with a focus on seafood, especially the headline prawns. There’s no denying the “cool location” – an “intimate shipping container on the harbour with a nice terrace” – though for one hipster-averse reporter “less focus on the ‘cool’ and more on the food would be welcome”.

Limited but positive feedback this year on this well-established wine bar and bottle shop, whose distinguishing feature is a large, barn-like extension and terrace that really comes into its own during the warmer months.

2023 Review: A “quirky and interesting” local with a “good atmosphere” serving a “creative menu, with cooking of a consistent high standard”. It makes a “fantastic pub for Sunday lunch”, with “outstanding roasts”.
