Featured Denham Restaurants
1. The Swan Inn
British, Modern restaurant in Denham
Village Road - UB9
2022 Review: Upscale Georgian gastroboozer, handy for J1 of the M40, whose “very pleasant surroundings” (in a ridiculously picture-postcard village), superior ambience and “nice garden” add considerably to its charms. The food, which is divided into small and big plates of comfort food-style British fare, isn’t wildly ambitious but is “consistently good”.
2. Maliks
Indian restaurant in Gerrards Cross
14 Oak End Way - SL9
“Great curry house with friendly, helpful staff” – one of a trio (with siblings in Cookham and Marlow) that have been the last word in this corner of the Home Counties for top-class “authentic Indian cuisine with a price tag” since the late 1990s (Heston Blumenthal is a fan). Top Tip – “the Sunday buffet is an attractive outing”.
3. Three Oaks
British, Traditional restaurant in Gerrards Cross
Austenwood Ln - SL9
“This wonderful neighbourhood restaurant with seriously good seasonal cooking” and “a relaxed, friendly environment” was launched back in 2011 by Terry Wogan’s daughter Katherine and her husband Henry – and is “still the very best in the area after all these years”, with “impeccable service from staff who are charming and helpful”. Top Tip – “Sunday lunch is sublime”.
4. The Jolly Farmer
restaurant in Chalfont St Peter
Gold Hill West - SL9
Reopened after a £450,000 refurb and extension in May 2024, this venue from Heartwood Inns, founded by Raymond Blanc as the White Brasserie Company, offers a French-influenced menu of more ambition than most gastropubs.
5. Lomito
restaurant in Northwood
41 Green Lane - HA6
If you’re in the mood for an “excellent steak”, direct your steps to this upmarket establishment – the fruit of a love affair born in the 1970s between a young Englishman and his Argentine sweetheart. The beef – also purveyed in steaks salads and burgers – is sourced from Aberdeen Angus cows reared on the lush Argentine Pampas and then seared to perfection on the legendary ‘V-Bar’ grill; the Northwood branch (there’s also a Gerard’s Cross sibling) also has an appealing downstairs cocktail bar.
