“It’s a lovely experience, sitting at the kitchen counter watching chef Mark Ramshaw (almost) single-handedly prepare dinner for the dozen covers in this tiny Cotswold dining room”. “The tasting menu is delicious” – nine courses for £85 per person – “full of flavours and great local produce, and frankly a bargain… definitely try and grab the kitchen counter”.

Mark Ramshaw’s ‘micro-restaurant’ serves a “seriously inventive menu at a great price” to no more than 11 guests a night on just Fridays and Saturdays. “We sat at the kitchen counter and enjoyed a brilliant modern British menu, strong on local produce and full of lovely bitter-fermented-charred-umami flavour combinations. Pork, peas and pickled strawberry was a yummy main course”. It opened in June 2021, with Marina O’Loughlin of the Sunday Times an early enthusiast.

Opened in June 2021, this ‘micro-restaurant in the Cotswolds’ offers an ambitious tasting experience to no more than 11 people at a time. No feedback as yet in our annual diners’ poll, but Marina O’Loughlin of the Sunday Times paid an early visit saying: “I can’t remember the last time I had such an assured ten-course tasting menu with wines – even a martini each – where the bill didn’t cost north of a ton a head”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"I took overseas friends to Oxheart and we were all heartly impressed. the oyster with miso granita was superb, as was the scallop with a tomato dashi we all remembered the next day. the port was superb as was the 'strawberry' desert. Mark Ramshaw is a seriously good chef and his wine pairing is spot on. He is also a wonderful warm and informative host"
