London Deptford Restaurant Guide

A “dependably good” meal is not to be taken for granted when eating out in Deptford, but is to be found here at one of the area’s brightest sparks: a high-quality, rather stylish café on a corner of the high street serving a pasta-focused lunch menu and an evening menu of more ambitious dishes.

2022 Review: “A good local Korean, with all the usual suspects present and correct on the menu”. An unassuming place, not far from Goldsmiths.

This welcoming Victorian pub-with-rooms on a corner site near St John’s station, between Deptford and Lewisham, is a “favourite with locals” for its freshly cooked food – in particular a wide selection of “good burgers”.

This basic Vietnamese outfit on Deptford High Street has long earned a reputation as a “local gem” – and remains a good bet for a freshly cooked cheap’n’cheeful meal following renovations.

2023 Review: This July 2022 newcomer at Deptford Arches promises an interesting culinary mashup reflecting the founders’ roots in the Philippines and Colombia. It opened too late for survey feedback, but The Evening Standard’s Jimi Famurewa found it: “occasionally inspired and enormously likeable but also prone, here and there, to a kind of erratic overreach”.

“What a find” on Deptford High Street – “a friendly local wine bar with delicious tasting plates” of “top-notch French-influenced food”, from an operation that started out catering for events before opening a bricks-and-mortar venue three years ago. Ex-Camberwell Arms head chef Sam Soane and former musician Matt Klose have known each other since they were lads in southeast London.
