Italian Restaurants in Pimlico
1. Caraffini Italian restaurant in Pimlico 61-63 Lower Sloane St - SW1
“The maitre d’ remembered me from over 10 years ago and treated me like I’d given them my patronage every day of those 10 years!” – this “neighbourhood” stalwart trattoria is “a staple of the area” south of Sloane Square: “unchanging from year to year” and “like a home from home” for its many (generally silver-haired) regulars. “The menu may not have changed in years, but who cares?” – it’s “always reliable, and well-priced for the locale” – and its USP is its “wonderful staff”, who “treat you like royalty” and are so “friendly” (“they knew exactly how to banter with my grumpy daughter and exactly when to point out a good wine on the list”). “Heaven help us when it finally changes hands…”
2. Gustoso Ristorante & Enoteca Italian restaurant in Pimlico 33 Willow Pl - SW1
“This very decent Italian” is a “hidden gem just a stone’s throw from Victoria Station” – “improbably located in the culinary desert behind Westminster Cathedral” – with “ever-improving traditional dishes” made from “fresh ingredients” delivered by “friendly staff” in a “pleasing”, relatively modern setting.
3. Enoteca Turi Italian restaurant in Pimlico 87 Pimlico Road - SW1
“Astonishing Italian wine list: bravo signor Turi!” – Giuseppi and Pamela Turi are “now firmly ensconced in Pimlico having successfully weathered the transfer” three years ago from a more neighbourhood-y site near Putney Bridge (which they inhabited for over 20 years) to this much posher postcode; and they have brought with them their “amazing” cellar, which is perhaps London’s most notable selection of Italian vintages. They have also replicated their “delightful” personal touch at this “comfortable” new venue, and fans say “the food has really raised its game since the SW15 days”: “simple dishes, beautifully prepared”. Its ratings slipped a fraction this year though, with quite a few gripes that it seems increasingly “pricey”.
5. Cacio & Pepe Italian restaurant in Pimlico 46 Churton Street - SW1
2019 Review: This “friendly and stylish Italian in Pimlico” with “very good pasta dishes” was launched two years ago by Florentine Enrica Della Martira as her first restaurant project. It’s rated a “sound choice” with a “menu that changes frequently”. Top Tip: “the signature cacio e pepe (pasta with cheese and pepper), served in a parmesan basket”.
