Italian Restaurants in Harrogate
1. Samuel’s, Swinton Park Hotel & Spa British, Modern restaurant in Masham Swinton Park - HG4
Occupying a small corner of a “fabulous old-school country pile” – itself set in 20,000 acres of ground – this “smart restaurant in a very smart hotel” makes use of game and fish from the estate, as well as produce from the very large kitchen garden, to provide “good cooking that’s well presented”. Afternoon tea in the splendid adjacent lounges is also a feature worth discovering.
2. The Bow Room Restaurant British, Modern restaurant in York Grays Court Hotel, Chapter House Street - YO1
“Quietly top class” – York’s oldest inhabited house (and boasting a medieval walled garden) is the backdrop to a meal at this small hotel, some of whose rooms have unmatched views of York Minster. The dining room (holder of hard-to-win three AA rosettes) is looked after by chef Adam Jackson, and his tasting menus with matching wine flights offer “a very pleasant experience with some great flavours”.
3. Sasso Italian restaurant in Harrogate 8-10 Princes Square - HG1
Chef-owner Stefano Lancellotti and his wife Sara Ferguson celebrate the 25th anniversary of their highly rated restaurant this year. Named after his home town in Emilia Romagna, it brings an authentic taste of the region to Yorkshire – even the eggs are imported to create pasta as it should be.
