This well-known local name – run by the famiglia Dammone since way back in 1976 (and now under the second and third generation) – has long been hailed as the “best Italian in Leeds”. Its unwavering pizza/pasta standards have latterly been expanded with the addition of an adjoining café/salumeria for bolder evening meals and top-flight Campanian deli items.

The Dammone family’s Headingley fixture (est 1976) is “a Leeds institution that maintains its standards and is still evolving”, having moved beyond offering first-rate pasta and pizza to add a next-door café/salumeria serving bolder ‘alter ego’ tasting menus on Fri and Sat nights.

The Dammone family’s Headingley stalwart, founded by Salvatore in 1976, is by many accounts “still the best Italian in Leeds”. Known for its “delicious” pasta and pizza, it has developed under sons Gip & John to incorporate a café/salumeria and offer ambitious ‘alter ego’ tasting menus. “They never rest on their laurels, the tastes and flavours are always developing”.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"The ambience was marked down because the acoustics were very difficult most of the evening. The service was marked down because of the pressure to order dessert quickly. The food was good and is a 3+."
