“The most civilised hour or two you’ll ever spend” could well be at this archetypal and epic English team room “institution” – “a legend that always lives up to its reputation”, with “exquisite” cakes, teas and light bites that are “a fabulous treat” (“can be pricier than most, but not to be missed”). It’s “always busy”, though, and “the queues are not so good”.
“Proper cakes, proper teas, silver service” and “outstanding Yorkshire hospitality” combine to make this legendary spot “the quintessential English tearoom that never fails to please”; indeed, “once you have got through the vast queues” it’s “the most civilised place you’ll ever spend an afternoon”.
“You can’t go to Yorkshire without eating at Betty’s!”; for “the definition of an afternoon tea”, and “classic old-world charm”, head to these legendary tearooms – everything is “simply perfect”. If there’s a caveat, it’s that you “can expect to queue most days”, but it’s “worth the wait”.
For a “leisurely afternoon tea, elegantly served”, few institutions deliver such a “lovely, traditional experience” as these renowned, “stately” tea-rooms – “even though there are long queues to enter, once inside you are in an unhurried world where time stands still”. “It’s always a magical visit; a treat for my mum, shared history with my sister, and introducing my daughter to its delights; the raclette, the fish ’n’ chips, the citron pressé, the cake trolley… need I go on?”
