A “delicious and interesting fusion of the familiar and unfamiliar” – and of chef Ravinder Bhogal’s mixed Indian, East African, Middle Eastern and British heritage – this Marylebone two-year-old is “always delightful”. “A quaint layout with comfy print cushions makes it feel smaller than it is”, while “staff are friendly if perhaps not always expert”.
Summary
Ravinder Bhogal’s “magic touch with flavour” helps create “wonderful and interesting dishes” at her Marylebone yearling (whose cuisine reflects the chef-patron’s mixed heritage with flavours from East Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Britain). With its “informal service” and “cosy” style it’s “a perfect venue for culinary exploration”.
Summary
“Marina’s review was spot on: this clubbable and laid-back newcomer is a triumphant, kick-you-in-the-crotch winner where diners spontaneously rave to neighbours about their meals!” – so say fans of food writer Ravinder Bhogal’s “cosy” Marylebone debutante, which mashes up flavours from East Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Britain. A big minority though are nonplussed – they say that “when you read the menu is looks adventurous” but claim the end result is “overhyped” and “bland”.
Jikoni Restaurant Diner Reviews

"The meal was superb. Could not fault any of the dishes - taste sensation, fresh, beautifully presented. Waiter to time to explain the menu, and quizzed the chef on sugar content of every dish (I’m diabetic), so that I could make informed and safe choices. And did all of this with a with real pleasure.
