“Wonderful bistro food” – “surprisingly fancy, but very well executed” – matches up to a notably “interesting and well-priced wine list” at this “delightful little wine bar” in Marylebone from Xavier Rousset, the youngest-ever Sommelier of the Year.
As befits a well-known wine expert, Xavier Rousset’s “buzzy” Marylebone bar has a “superbly curated selection of vintages by the glass”, but also “excellent”, straightforward Mediterranean (primarily Italian) cooking. Top Tip: “very good value set lunch for £20”.
“The justly-renowned wine-list” is the key feature of Xavier Rousset’s “crowded” yearling, but its “friendly” style and “simple, effective” Italian dishes, all contribute to its very high popularity as “a good addition to Marylebone”.
“A superb wine list, well laid out, and fairly priced” (with 250 bins and 50 champagnes) is the cornerstone of this small Marylebone newcomer – from Texture and 28°-50° co-founder Xavier Rousset – but its varied menus of small and large plates gets a strong thumbs up too.
The restaurant is a community hub, with Xavier and his team inviting diners and local residents to contribute their thoughts and suggestions for the ever-evolving wine list. Open seven days a week from 12-10pm, Blandford Comptoir’s relaxed and informal atmosphere appeal to Marylebone dwellers and workers, as well as those from across the Capital in search of great food and wine.
Showcasing the very best, well sourced ingredients, the menu features a selection of meat, seafood, raw and vegetable small and large plates, designed to be enjoyed in any order. Guests can choose to order three separate courses, or simply select a few plates to share in a group.
Guests can enjoy the extensive range of 250 wines, 40 champagnes and a tempting selection of home brewed cocktails.
We host wine tasting regularly on Saturdays.

Head Chef Ben Mellor is a born and bred Londoner. He cut his teeth in the Savoy Hotel, Monsieur Max, McClements and Drakes before joining Xavier Rousset at 28.50 Fetter Lane, where he became Executive Chef. When not plating-up the freshest cuisine in Marylebone, he can be found hunting down the perfect Old Fashion cocktail… luckily our solera-aged Pichon Fashion is close at hand.
