Featured Maldon Restaurants
1. Dusk
British, Modern restaurant in Brentwood
Ongar Road - CM15
A “spectacular molecular gastronomic seven-course tasting menu” from chef Stephen Gomes – complete with impressive dessert course – is the centrepiece of this “unique venue” in the leafy burbs (which also has a very eclectic à la carte offering). As an alternative, head to the adjoining shisha lounge, complete with regular DJs – “a great place for romancing Essex girls and boys, with tans, tits and tattoos aplenty!” Note, it’s an alcohol-free venue, with plenty of non-alcoholic drinks, but you can arrange to BYO. Some upbeat feedback, but too few reports for a rating as yet. But, in the right mood, it looks like an interesting night!
2. The Blue Strawberry
International restaurant in Hatfield Peverel
The Street - CM3
The “food is always very good and the service is friendly and efficient” at this longstanding venue with a traditional menu (fish pie, calves’ liver with bacon, grilled skate wing with caper butter, beef Wellington). It’s “a favourite at any time of the year”, and can accommodate “groups of varying sizes”.
3. The Lion Inn
British, Modern restaurant in Boreham
Main Rd - CM3
2021 Review: “A short drive from Chelmsford” in “the heart of Essex” – this “highly recommended” inn is large enough to host weddings and conferences, with a spacious Victorian-style conservatory for dining that has a “real vibrant buzz”, along with “decent good-value food and very friendly service”.
