Featured Finsbury Park Restaurants
1. Pasta Remoli Italian restaurant in Finsbury Park 7 Clifton Terrace - N4
From its Finsbury Park base (next to the Park Theatre), this “cheerful” group of “good neighbourhood pasta-stops” subsequently expanded to Ealing and then onto Wembley branch (there’s also an outlet in Westfield Stratford); all deliver “well-cooked”, affordable pasta.
2. Max's Sandwich Shop Sandwiches, cakes, etc restaurant in Finsbury Park 19 Crouch Hill - N4
Max Halley’s cult Stroud Green café has won renown as an “outstanding, cheap ’n’ cheerful” gourmet option, thanks to its wild, wacky and wickedly enjoyable selection of sarnies, each of which amounts to what’s effectively a meal between slices of bread (be prepared to get your hands dirty).
3. Pizzeria Pappagone Italian restaurant in Finsbury Park 131 Stroud Green Rd - N4
“Such a fun neighbourhood pizzeria” – this “friendly”, if hectic, indie has been a Finsbury Park fixture for 22 years. They do “very competent pasta”, too, and are kid-friendly to the extent of producing “pizza dough dinosaurs”.
4. Dotori Korean restaurant in Finsbury Park 3a Stroud Green Rd - N4
“Brill sushi and mouth-numbingly spicy Korean hotpots” draw a bustling crowd of overseas students to this “unprepossessing” operation near Finsbury Park tube – once “the best-kept secret in town”. But word has spread about the “sensational Korean and Japanese food for £10-£20 a head” – “authentic and in huge portions”. Cash only and no booking.
5. Osteria Tufo Italian restaurant in Finsbury Park 67 Fonthill Rd - N4
This “Italian gem” in Finsbury Park has locals purring with its “wonderful homemade pasta” and “brilliant service from Paola and her team” – “we were a fussy group aged 7 to 75 and the staff catered for our every desire”. Yes, there’s “a singing waiter”, but “it’s not cringe-worthy, he’s really good!”.
6. Yard Sale Pizza Pizza restaurant in Finsbury Park 54 Blackstock Road - N4
“Unusual toppings that actually work” (“BBQ sauce!”) and “the best-ever, super-thin crusts” are hallmarks of this “achingly East London trendy” quartet of “excellent” and “inventive” pizza-stops.
8. Oak N4 British, Modern restaurant in Finsbury Park 5-7 Wells Terrace - N4
2018 Review: You can select from 150 wines by the bottle to drink-in or take-away at this new indie wine store and tasting rooms. Limited feedback to-date say it’s “a great addition to the area and presumably will find a larger audience once the developments at nearby Finsbury Park station have been completed”. The “the simple nibbly platters” very much play second fiddle however.
9. Salt the Radish Vegetarian restaurant in Finsbury Park 45 Blackstock Rd - N4
A new 'veg-centric' cafe for Finsbury Park, occupying a former deli.
10. Black Hamburg Sandwiches, cakes, etc restaurant in Finsbury Park 20 Stroud Green Road - N4
Chefs Ian Macintosh and Michael Spurgeon (Heirloom and Nickel bar respectively) founded this tiny, hole-in-the-wall-style sandwich shop in Finsbury Park. There are just four seats, so it’s mainly take-away.
