“Where every visitor to this country might usefully try our traditional national dish” – this 60-year-old Pimlico veteran a short stroll from Victoria station serves “excellent fish, good chips and mushy peas”, and service is “pleasant” too. Not compulsory, but you can stray beyond cod ’n’ chips if you want to: be it with fritto misto, lobster thermidor, sea bass cooked on the bone…

“Great fish” and “friendly staff” attract a steady crowd of regulars to this veteran Pimlico fish specialist, run by the same family since 1961. It’s been modernised in relatively recent times, and serves classic fish ’n’ chips alongside more elevated seafood options, including octopus, lobster and Dover sole meunière.

This veteran Pimlico fish specialist has just celebrated its 60th year, under the founder’s son, Marios Leonidou, whose “attentive and friendly service” ensures satisfied customers. Classic fish ’n’ chips are complemented by more upmarket options on the menu, from fresh Dorset oysters and mussels steamed in Guinness to grilled Canadian lobster and whole Dover sole.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
