This veteran Pimlico fish specialist has just celebrated its 60th year, under the founder’s son, Marios Leonidou, whose “attentive and friendly service” ensures satisfied customers. Classic fish ’n’ chips are complemented by more upmarket options on the menu, from fresh Dorset oysters and mussels steamed in Guinness to grilled Canadian lobster and whole Dover sole.

Marios Leonidou runs this well-established Pimlico veteran, originally founded by his dad, and celebrating 56 years in 2021. For a (slightly) posher-than-usual fish ’n’ chip experience, it’s something of a classic choice, and the menu runs far beyond cod to scallops, oak-smoked salmon and Dover sole.

This veteran Pimlico fish restaurant is “always reliable and satisfying”. There are few frills, but it has “become much more upmarket” with “delicious grilled fish”“although the set menu haddock or cod and chips remains popular”, “especially with taxi drivers”. “The main problem is getting a table – it’s so popular with large parties of visiting tourists.”

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
