Harden's survey result
For 25 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 60,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.
“Convenient for the Hampstead Theatre”, this “off-the-beaten-track” Swiss Cottage stalwart serves a modern British menu of some ambition, and offers “especially good value pre-show menus”. At other times, prices are “a bit steep”, service can lag, and it can seem “curiously unmemorable” even though “objectively the food is good, and the room tastefully restrained”.
“A mildly posh place, really convenient for Hampstead Theatre” – this backstreet stalwart in Swiss Cottage “lacks buzz” but its cooking is “worthwhile” and very “reliable”.
“Close by Hampstead Theatre” – this Swiss Cottage backstreet fixture is “always full before a show”; for other occasions, it inspires limited feedback, but it’s quite a classy spot in an “area that’s not well-endowed” – “fish is particularly reliable”.
“Very handy for the Hampstead Theatre”, this Swiss Cottage spot perennially wins praise for its “careful cooking”, “well-chosen wine” and “classy” decor; as ever, though, there are also critics who insist it’s “gone off”!
Bradley’s Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Sometimes a sense that the kitchen is on the edge of closing but food and service are very reliable and it's a good venue for post-theatre eating. One of the last redoubts of wiener schnitzel and we always have their carlingford oysters. Wine is well priced."
"We always have the same meal here - it's one of the few non-brasseries where you can get a schnitzel and the oysters are really good. Excellent for pre or post theatre - it's an institution but always feels fresh and service is terrific."
