Featured Greenwich Restaurants
1. Craft London British, Modern restaurant in Greenwich Peninsula Square - SE10
“You dine very well” from a “really interesting and different menu”, hosted by “informative staff”, in the restaurant at Stevie Parle’s multi-level operation by the O2 Centre. “The bars are pretty good as well” – “brilliant for cocktails, fantastic for people-watching” – and there’s a café on the ground floor.
2. The Guildford Arms British, Modern restaurant in Greenwich 55 Guildford Grove - SE10
“One of the best in the Greenwich area” – this three-storey Georgian tavern has a “beautiful garden” and “sits away from the main drag, so it’s not overly packed and touristy”. Chef Guy Awford is a well-known name in these parts having cooked at Inside (RIP) for many years, and is credited with some “brilliant cooking” here too. In mid 2019 it closed, to be totally transformed, with re-opening set for September 2019: if they get it half right, this will become Greenwich’s No. 1 destination. (Ratings are based on past performance: not yet post-revamp).
3. Bianco43 Pizza restaurant in Greenwich 43 Greenwich Church St - SE10
What we say -
BIANCO43 IS LONDON'S MOST AUTHENTIC ITALIAN PIZZERIA RESTAURANT, SPECIALIZING IN PIZZAS AND TRADITIONAL ITALIAN CUISINE. FOOD, DRINKS AND STAFF ARE 100% ITALIAN
What they said about us in the Evening Standard -
"PROUDLY TRADITIONAL, BIANCO 43 PIZZERIA RISTORANT...
4. Enderby House British, Modern restaurant in Greenwich 3 Telegraph Avenue - SE10
Young's have revived this Grade II listed building on the Greenwich riverfront that has been closed for years. The pub has three floors and two riverside terraces; open for outside dining from April 12.
5. Zaibatsu Japanese restaurant in Greenwich 96 Trafalgar Rd - SE10
This “buzzy, family-owned Asian” dishes up “really fresh Japanese fusion food” that’s “cheap and delicious”, including “super-value sushi”. It’s “basic” and “functional”, with “dog-eared menus” and Formica tables, but “service is efficient” and you can BYO.
6. Goddards At Greenwich British, Traditional restaurant in Greenwich 22 King William Walk - SE10
“Crammed with tourists and locals every lunchtime, getting a taste of history”, this “genuine and friendly” Greenwich fixture is one of the last purveyors of traditional pie ’n’ mash left in London. The “pies haven’t changed since 1890” – although they do now offer a veggie version with soya.
7. Golden Chippy Fish & chips restaurant in Greenwich 62 Greenwich High Road - SE10
2018 Review: You definitely get the “best fish ’n’ chips in the area” at Chris Kanizi’s Greenwich chippy. We mean it no disrespect when we say that TripAdvisor’s November 2016 ranking of ‘#1 out of 17,372 Restaurants in London’ was over-egging it a tad.
8. Sail Loft Mediterranean restaurant in Greenwich 11 Victoria Parade - SE10
2018 Review: “Lovely views across the Thames to Canary Wharf” are the highlight at this Fullers pub in Greenwich. No surprises on the pub grub, but it’s dependably well-rated.
9. The Green Café Vegetarian restaurant in Greenwich 285 Greenwich High Road - SE10
2019 Review: “Spot on for brunch at any time of the day!” – a superior “local caff” in Greenwich with “good fry-ups” and “lots of healthy options too”: “bespoke English breakfast, great poached egg dishes, super sweet potato fries, good breads, waffles, fab tea and coffee; oh, and maybe a slice of cake to take home!”
10. by Chloe Vegan restaurant in Greenwich Ground Floor, ICON at the O2, Peninsula Square - SE10
A single Covent Garden branch quickly become a chain of four for Chloe Coscarelli and Samantha Wasser’s NYC-based, fast-food, vegan chain, with openings last year near Tower Bridge, by Oxford Circus and in the O2. It’s mass catering for sure (with salads, fish ’n’ chips, sarnies), junk-ish even (burgers, mac ’n’ cheese, fries, cupcakes) but, for an everyday vegan fix from brunch onwards, no chain is covering the ground quicker.
