Harden's survey result
“A slice of Italy in York complete with TV screen showing Inter Milan playing valiantly (but silently!)” and a menu of “super trattoria food at reasonable prices”; pizza pilgrims are also well catered for. Now also open at Sutton on the Forest (Il Paradiso on the Forest). A Leeds branch has now closed.

“A great find” – behind an unprepossessing exterior, Sardinian Paolo Silesu’s “jolly and buzzing” outfit serves “excellent and imaginative dishes” including the Italian classics (and is “paradise for pizza lovers”). He recently opened an out-of-town branch at Sutton-on-the-Forest.
“Fabulous pizzas, fabulous fish and pasta, fabulous service…” – you “can’t go wrong” at this “unique and quirky” Sardinian; “if you like watching Italian football on TV whilst eating” and if you don’t mind the intimate setting, “you will truly be in paradise” (albeit one that’s a “bit swamped by Tripadvisor devotees”).
For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
