Giorgio Alessio’s “fantastic” outfit has long been a “beacon of light” in these parts (“excellent since our first visit… in 1975!”) – the fish is “as fresh as you can get it, collected from the harbour at dawn” and it’s well worth going in season for “some dishes with truffles they bring back from visits home to Italy”. “We go every year while on holiday and I dream about the zabaglione!”
A local institution for four decades, “this family-run restaurant is a must when in Scarborough”. Giorgio Alessio’s “unfailingly delicious” cooking is a wonderful marriage of Piedmontese skill with Yorkshire produce. The opening dish on his menu sets the tone: ‘stufato di pesce di Scarborough’ (local fish stew) – “book early!”.
An “excellent, cosy” Italian that’s also acclaimed as “the best fish restaurant in the area”; “the service is excellent and the all-round value is good”.
A “small, comfortable” and pleasingly “old-fashioned” Italian “serving exceptionally fresh, locally sourced fish dishes”; “try the lobster or take a few extra pennies and go during the ‘truffle’ weeks – you won’t regret it!”
