Harden's survey result
Summary
“Quality fresh fish served beautifully and Champagne to chase it down is always a winner” at the Stacey family’s “quiet spot by the harbour”, whose “basic decor makes it even better” – it’s “a favourite in Torquay”, and many regulars agree it’s “better than many more well-known places in Cornwall”. There’s an equally unpretentious wine bar upstairs, with great views over Torbay.
Summary
A chalkboard menu lists the day’s “fresh fish”, sourced from nearby Brixham, at the Stacey family’s straightforward harbourside haunt, a fixture of more than 30 years’ standing. There’s an upstairs wine bar open in the evening, with panoramic views over Torbay.
Summary
“Divine fish and seafood” from Brixham is the mainstay of the blackboard menu at the Stacey family’s “small, intimate” and “good-value” spot, now in its fourth decade. “Have been going for years and the fantastic fresh fish never disappoints – have taken American friends who vow it’s the best they have ever had!”. There’s also a wine bar upstairs.
Summary
The “best fish”, landed across the harbour at Brixham, is what the Stacey family fixture, now 30 years old, is all about. Upstairs there’s an evening wine (and oyster) bar with panoramic views, and both venues provide ever-changing blackboard menus.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

No 7 Fish Bistro & Wine Bar Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Old school fish resto with tiled walls and wooden framing, where the locals go. Could be a caafe but much better than that. Six of us had a good meal: cuttlefish, scallops, french onion soup -very dark, toasted goats cheese with a white bean paste ; then 3 lemon sole, sea bass, fish and chips, cod . 3 veggies, various potatoes. All good, if not especially inspired, and very nicely plated. A good wine list with lots around £35. Altogether good, with attentive and accurate service in "
