Chef Andrew Jones returned to his Norfolk origins seven years ago after working for Richard Corrigan and Claude Bosi, to open this modern venue that “never fails” with its locally sourced meals – “we love going there for lunch”. He and his partner, Hannah, also ran The Dial House restaurant-with-rooms in Reepham for five years, before selling up in autumn 2023.

Chef-patron Andrew Jones learnt his trade alongside star chefs such as Richard Corrigan and Claude Bosi before launching this local/seasonal venture with his partner Hannah; it recently scooped three AA rosettes, and reporters had some accordingly “exquisite” dishes here. The owners also run Norfolk restaurant-with-rooms The Dial House, which doubles as an antiques and vintage store.

From Hannah Springham & Andrew Jones, also behind Dial House in Reepham, this contemporary bistro (est. 2017) is “such a lovely place to come and eat” and stands out even on a “street with many acceptable restaurants”; “the décor is minimalist” (it can be a tad “noisy” as a result) but is atoned for by an “interesting menu making great use of fresh local produce”.

"Good value set menu at £23. Ham Hock & Pheasant terrine was fine.Confit duck leg did not have crispy skin; the kitchen and pass is visible to customers and there was no sizzle or garlic smells etc coming from the chefs. It all smacks a bit of meal assembly rather than cooking. House salad was bizarre and inedible. First two choices of wine were out of stock (from a limited list), stocks depleted after Norfolk Restaurant week apparently. Overall a bit underwhelming."
