“Very fresh fish with crispy batter and great chips” is just what you want from a “good local chippy” – and just what you get at this Turkish-run outfit in Finchley, which has just celebrated its 21st anniversary. “We’ve been patrons since it first opened, and the service is attentive and friendly” – and certainly exceeds chippy norms in the restaurant, where there’s a range of mezze and other starters, the option of charcoal-grilled fish, and even tablecloths.

“Fish ’n’ chips as it’s meant to be”“non-greasy, tasty and in good portions” – makes this twenty-year-old chippy a “great local” for Finchley. It’s Turkish-run, which gives the option to “try fish from the charcoal grill”. There’s still the odd glitchy report, but one regular said in the last survey that “after an off-patch recently, it’s back on form”.

“Super-fresh fish” “cooked on a charcoal grill”, “served sizzling hot”, “with plump and plentiful chips” and “in copious portions” make this “truly excellent” Turkish-run outfit in Finchley one of north London’s top chippies. One or two reporters, though, fear it may be starting to “rest on its laurels”.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
