Summary
The cooking is awesome and “the bar is mega!” according to the many fans of this JKS outpost in the Bloomberg Arcade. Modelled on an Indian Army mess, “it’s always been a very masculine, ‘City boys’ type place (some evenings the male:female ratio is at gay-bar disparities!)”. The quality of the “inauthentic but deliciously tasty” cooking is undisputed, but there’s lively debate about what’s best on the menu: “the short rib curry is the stand-out here”; no, “the biryani in pie crust is the best Indian dish in town”.
Summary
“Standards remain high” at JKS Restaurants’ “Anglo-Indian sporting and military-themed eaterie” in the Bloomberg Arcade – “a go-to lunching spot (albeit that City lunching is significantly less prevalent than in days gone by)”. The “amazing and different dishes” are “full of flavour and spices”. Top Menu Tips – “the tandoori meats in particular are excellent” and “dum beef shin and bone marrow biryani is a must try!”
Summary
“One of the sheer tastiest places to eat in town” – JKS Restaurants’ highly popular outpost in Bloomberg Arcade continues to inspire raves for its “delicious and different” Indian cuisine (very much “not your traditional curry house”). The large interior, with its many bars and TV screens, is more divisive: it’s “awesome” for its core clientele, but “the ambience screams ‘City Boys’ (especially when there’s sport on)”. Top Menu Tip – “Indo-Chinese chilli paneer lettuce cups… so many tastes at the same time!”
Summary
“Magnificent” Indian scoff (and surprisingly good value considering the location) has quickly earned a stellar reputation for this “superb” venue in the City’s Bloomberg Arcade (from JKS, “the same group as Trishna, Gymkhana etc”). It’s a “noisy” venue with plentiful TV screens showing sport and is a haven for “meat-lovers” – all of which gives it a decidedly male feel. But it “oozes fun”, and even detractors who find it “slightly excessively ‘City’” – and “about as authentic as Kim Kardashian” – concede that “there’s no doubt the food and drink can’t be beaten”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Simply off the scale in terms of culinary excellence. As good as anywhere (maybe Hoppers the only exception). Perhaps, like Dishoom, at times verging on the one dimensional under-flavour but always a joy nonetheless"
