The original Delifonseca (re-named to avoid confusion with its spin-off), now with vintage cocktail bar, wins praise for its “really good food and interesting choices” from a daily-changing blackboard menu. Change may be afoot, however, with the owner eyeing a vast, Kickstarter-funded expansion of its dockside spin-off (home to a famed market hall), with plans to eventually operate from one base.
FKA Delifonseca – the deli part has now moved both literally and in name to its dockside sibling – this Stanley St spot is “still an old favourite, which manages to be both reliable and interesting”. Upstairs is a booth-lined dining room; downstairs, the former deli is now a vintage-chic cocktail bar offering nibbles and takeaways.
In the buzzing Stanley St Quarter, the original Delifonseca – renamed after the launch of a Dockside sibling in 2010 – is “really handy for the city centre” and continues to be well rated; these days, besides a booth-lined dining room, its downstairs deli has made way for a cosy, vintage-style bar.
A “deli that does meals”; it's a “comfortable” spot offering “good, imaginative cooking”... “what's not to like about the place?”
