Harden's survey result
Yards from King’s, and with “lovely views” of the college chapel, this attractive, no-nonsense meat specialist continues to win enthusiastic all-round feedback; part of a nine-strong local chain, the owners are now crowdfunding to open two new sites.
In a “brilliant location” opposite King’s, this “convivial” staple serves “simply presented” carnivorous fare at a “solid” and “fairly priced” level (but “we’re not talking about Smithfield’s St Johns!”); “interesting cellars” an added boon.
Whilst “it’s mainly a pre-theatre standby”, according to the general consensus, this operation opposite King’s is worth remembering for its dependable (meat-focused) traditional British fare.
The Cambridge Chop House Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Eaten here often and the meat remains good. But generally a duller and duller menu and a shopper centred ambiance. The starter was dull and over-salted - the chimichurri sauce and the slaw pathetic. CLear the clientele come for the steaks and that's it. Pity as it used to be more stylish and more fun."
