Michael & Laurence Smith’s foodie haven is relatively humbly located in a small converted front room in a row of cottages at the distant end of the Isle of Skye. Celebrating its tenth year and exceptionally rated in recent editions, it – perhaps due to its remoteness – elicited little feedback this year for its ambitious eight-course menu for £160 per person, which includes seafood landed at the local jetty alongside other short-travelled Scottish ingredients – primarily from the sea – all prepared in a classic French style.
