“Fabulous seafood” is the standout at Michael Smith’s “intimate restaurant” in a “wonderful picturesque location at the north end of Skye”. “Well-cooked and presented” dishes of “excellent local produce” arrive on either a ‘Skye fruits de mer’ five-course set menu or three courses with meat and veggie options.

Michael Smith’s “very intimate and cosy” three-year-old lacks the formality of its ambitious peers in this part of the world, yet wins similar praise for his accomplished and “excellent” cuisine – “predominantly fish-related from a five-course taster menu” (and also with a simpler three-course option).

“Michael Smith (formerly of foodie favourite The Three Chimneys) has taken dining in Skye to a new level of brilliance” according to fans of this small and “charming” venture (opened in spring 2016). The style here is “lovely” (“relaxed in a typical Skye way”) and more informal than its other gourmet rivals in these parts, and he serves “beautiful” food (with the choice in the evening of a three-courser, or a five-course ‘fruits de mer’ menu).

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
