“Wow, this is indeed a find if you can stomach the drive over the highest road in the British Isles” – a sentiment felt for more than a century for this far-flung destination, which was recommended as the ‘Temperance Hotel’ in the 1911 Michelin Guide. Owned and run by the redoutable Judith Fish for more than 30 years, it’s noted these days for excellent local seafood and drinks including beer from the Applecross Brewery. "Very friendly team welcome you and the atmosphere is warm and cheerful. There is a fairly extensive menu catering for all tastes with a serious selection focussing on fish. A decent wines list with most of the wines being available by the glass. The portion sizes are quite generous. The scallops I had for a main course were perfectly cooked and served with their coral. Great selection of tables outside beside the waters edge with food served from a van that works with the inn. "
