This no-frills outfit – est. 2006 by Jane Gill and chef Liz McGougan atop the former CalMac ferry office – has long been of note for its “fantastic fish selection”, which spans shellfish platters, fish stew and Mull oysters — some of which is sourced by ‘The Highlander’, their in-house boat. Whatever you go for, it’s “all perfectly cooked”, and accompanied by bracing views beyond the pier and out to sea, especially if you sit on the terrace.

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
