Featured City Of London Restaurants
1. Lino British, Modern restaurant in City of London 90 Bartholomew Close - EC1A
This spring-2019 arrival occupies a “post-industrial space” – part of a converted linoleum factory near Barts – where the focus is on the trendy, modern British food emanating from the open kitchen, prepared by ex-Dairy head chef, Richard Falk. It is “a great newcomer in a barren area”, but some mixed reports suggest it still has a way to go before it fully realises its potential (the “food is good without being outstanding…”, and the “cavernous space can make conversation difficult…”).
2. Da Giua Italian restaurant in City of London 105 Whitecross Street - EC1Y
Now over a year old, this newish establishment, between Old Street and Barbican, operates on a site that’s seen other ventures come and go, and those who know the area say it’s “good to have someone operate something that’s working”: “a cut-above-the-average, local Italian” at “sensible prices”, including “excellent pizza”. Top Tip – “a truffle-based menu looked excellent as did the truffle that was brought out for my appreciation when I expressed an interest”.
