Harden's survey result
Summary
A “lovely”, “bright and airy venue on the River Ouse” plays host to this city spin-off from Andrew Pern’s well-known Star Inn at Harome, 25 miles to the north. It would surely rate higher were it not for a feeling in some quarters that it offers “nice” or “distinctly average” bistro food “at fine-dining prices”.
Summary
Andrew Pern’s gastropub offshoot from the Star Inn at Harome continues to inspire unusually mediocre feedback, with a majority of reports finding it severely “overrated” and with “OTT prices for the quality of the food”. Why, then, is it “very busy”? – it has a “lovely setting over the river” with “the best waterside terrace in the city (worth a visit for a drink if nothing else!)”

Summary
“Set in a lovely location next to the river”, Andrew Pern’s “posh gastropub” – a city offshoot from the Star Inn at Harome – is certainly capable of fine meals, and fans applaud its “proper ingredients, cooked well” that “celebrate British food”. But its ratings continue to be dragged down by “inconsistent cooking and sketchy service”: “dining here really is a rollercoaster: they need to get a grip and ensure some consistency in both food and service”.
For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Star Inn the City Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Since the team at Harome have been in residence the uplift in all standards has been noticeable. Utterly wonderful, also ate in October, game season being Andrew’s most wonderful bit of the year frankly. Hopefully Harome will be open again soon."

"Overpriced"

"Distinctly average in all respects expect price which is high."
