Harden's survey result
“Breakfast never disappoints” at this artisanal deli and café in a former greengrocer’s where you’ll find “consistently good” snacks and brunch fare spanning sarnies and quirkier options (“like in New Zealand”). “Be prepared to table share” and don’t miss the walled garden out back. The “charming” three-year-old Hemlsley spin-off is also a hit.
Andrew Burton’s rustic-chic former greengrocer’s turned café, deli and artisan bakery, with a two-year-old spin-off in Helmsley. You “can be cheek by jowl” with your neighbours, but the victuals (grazing platters, sausage rolls, stuffed sandwiches) make it “far better than the chains”. Top Tip: much-nominated for its excellent breakfasts.
This city-centre deli-bakery “can be a bit cramped and chaotic” but is “worth it for the food” – “tasty, high quality produce” parlayed in sandwiches, sharing platters and cakes (and “with interesting specials”) makes it “an excellent place for a bite”.
