Harden's survey result
“A relaxed rural delight”, this “convivial” 17th-century inn on the edge of Petworth Park has won high ratings for several years now, and “just can’t be faulted”. There’s “an interesting menu” of “beautifully executed, adventurous dishes”, many of them using “excellent locally sourced ingredients” (“suppliers are listed on a blackboard”), plus “hyper-local sparkling wine”.
With “a beautiful garden for relaxing in Summer and such a cosy interior for cold winters” – this very popular, “upmarket dining pub” in “a gorgeous part of the country beneath the South Downs and on the edge of Petworth Park” is something of a rural idyll with “always welcoming and jovial staff” and “imaginative food from local produce”.
“Breathing countryside rusticity” – this “lovely” informal inn (with rooms) is a real “gem” (The Good Pub Guide’s 2017 Pub of the Year), with “adventurous” cuisine, based on “hyper-local sourcing”.
A “superb, informal dining pub with good-value rooms and genuinely local sourcing” (“the only place I’ve met the vintner who made my wine whilst drinking it at the bar!”); an “exceptional, eccentric garden” with “free roaming chickens” is another plus.
