Harden's survey result
The rough-around-the-edges pub that once stood here is long gone – these days it’s “clearly popular and well-regarded” owing to chef-patron John Hooker’s “consistently good” gastro fare that’s “tremendous value for money” too.
“A world apart from the rough and ready boozer it was in the 1990s” – this “excellent rural-style pub (but in the town)” is nowadays “a warm and welcoming local with restaurant standard food to boot. Chef patron [for the last five years] John Hooker has truly stamped his mark here, and whilst not doing anything too fashionably clever ensures that dishes really do taste their best”.
