“The best restaurant on Portsea Island – by far!” is probably a fair verdict on this “professional” and ambitious ‘global French’ establishment, just off the seafront, praised for its “delicious” cuisine allied with “knowledgeable, yet also friendly” staff.
With “high ambition” and a “limited menu (but this is no disadvantage)”, this unassuming ‘global French’ hotspot, just off the seafront, is a bright spark in Portsmouth’s still-emerging food scene.
This smart and “consistent” venue is very much the place to be locally; already home to “excellent food and friendly service” (the tasting menu comes “with lots of little extras and treats”) it now appears to be “striving for greater recognition”.
This Southsea local is often said to be the best bet in town; not to over-egg it though – even a reporter who acknowledges that “by all accounts this is Portsmouth’s finest by some distance” feels the food is “OK but not exceptional on a national scale”.
