‘Inventive and good-value café-style food’ is the motto of this friendly venture, established by the four Crouch brothers (hence CSONS). Come early in the day for an “interesting alternative to traditional bacon and eggs” (it features chorizo and smoked chilli sauce), then enjoy cakes, bakes and focaccia by day; or drop in for their Friday and Saturday night dinners.

“A tremendous coffee shop and café run by the four Crouch brothers: they do what they say, producing fresh locally sourced food but with a globally-inspired menu changing daily”. It provides “superb coffee and bright vibrant tasty street food”. (“I had spicy Lebanese potatoes followed by their own succulent pressed beef burger and then a Japanese bean bun based dessert.”)

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

I always eat here whenever I'm in Shrewsbur...

"I always eat here whenever I'm in Shrewsbury. The food served is some of the best vegetarian food I've ever tasted. I'm a meat eater but I always order the vegetarian dishes as they pack so much flavour as well as interesting textures. Much of the food has a middle-eastern influence and the staff are knowledgable about the dishes if asked. The interior is rustic and slightly basic in style."
