FKA ‘The Manor at Foxhills’: this “beautiful” dining room of a top golf course – set in an impressive Victorian manor house – “has been refurbished, with no carpets or window furnishings so it’s noisier than it used to be”. Too little feedback as yet from which to rate this new, more modern guise, but prices are not punishing and there is a menu for ‘Young Adults’. A traditional afternoon tea in the adjoining plush lounge is still an option.

Boasting one of the South’s best golf courses and one of England’s first natural swimming pools, this swish Victorian manor house is “an amazing place” to visit. Diners can choose between the casual ‘Nineteen’ eatery or beamed restaurant ‘The Manor’, offering “very good”, pretty-as-a-picture cuisine, not least afternoon tea.

“The best scones ever!” are part of a “lovely afternoon tea with champagne à deux” that are the most highly rated feature by reviewers of this family-run hotel, golf club and spa, where the centrepiece of the 400-acre estate is the “romantic” 19th-century manor house: “a beautiful setting, full of old-style elegance”. Good ratings too though for a full meal from a straightforward modern menu majoring in high quality protein.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
