Re-opened in 2008, this spectacular Art Deco hotel boasts equally impressive views of Morecambe Bay from its restaurant.
Harden's survey result
“The glamour of the building competes with the beauty of the outlook” at this “superb Art Deco hotel with the most beautiful views across Morecambe Bay, which makes this a fabulous location for dinner”. “Better still, the food is very good!” – Lancastrian sourced, and in an unfancy, modern British style. There’s also a “quintessential afternoon tea, with perfect sandwiches, scones and cakes”, while “it’s worth staying over for the breakfast – and the view of the birdlife on the shore”.
The “stunning view across Morecambe Bay” certainly adds to the magic of this “real gem” of an art deco hotel – “well worth a detour from the motorway” (the A863). Unusually, the food actually lives up to the backdrop, and it remains particularly reputed for its “superb, well balanced afternoon tea”.
“It would be difficult to think of a better backdrop to a meal” than the “amazing views across Morecambe Bay to the Lake District” at this “iconic” and “very stylish” art deco hotel. Perhaps surprisingly, the food itself is also “lovely” and “not overpriced” – with the “quintessential English afternoon tea” a continuing highlight.
A “gorgeous Art Deco hotel” whose “beautiful” dining room boasts “uninterrupted views of the sea” from the promenade; even if “it is the vista that raises this to a special experience”, the food is “lovely” too. Top Tip – the “best afternoon tea ever”.
