Summary
“Authentic Italian grub” – much of it imported from co-owner Simona Di Dio’s family farm in Campania, or hand-made on-site – is the draw at the “cosy but rather basic” operation she runs with partner Harry Ryder, with a cookery school next door. Set in the Old Town, close to Turner Contemporary, it is very much a part of Margate’s booming gastronomic scene.

With just a handful of tables, Harry Ryder & Simona Di Dio's “unique Italian family-run shop, kitchen and supper club in the heart of Margate’s Old Town” has won real raves since opening in 2017. “Ingredients are sourced from Simona's family and their neighbours” back in Foglianise, near Naples, and parlayed into some “amazing food” (including their one-off regional Italian menu nights during quieter months).

"The food is fine but for this price I’d expect more. Also the main course portions were barely bigger than a starter. Service and ambience were nothing special (but no problems either; we ate outside so can’t judge the inside). "
"Staff were excellent and very friendly. Food was delicious as were the wines. An Italian sausage ragu was very good. Gnocchi with mushy was also good "
