With its fortunes revived under the Huntsbridge Group of late, this “lovely old thatched building with sunny conservatory” joined the local, ever-growing Cambscuisine empire in January 2018; fans say it’s “back in business”, turning out “interesting and well-prepared” food.
“Definitely improving after its return to the Huntsbridge Group” – this “very attractive thatched gastropub” (a varsity fave as it’s a short hop outside Cambridge) was “very nicely refurbished, particularly the conservatory” in summer 2016, and the food (“with an Italian theme”) is back on “delicious” form.
Long beloved of varsity students and their doting parents, this “picturesque thatched dining pub in a pretty village”, known for its “lovely” conservatory setting, has put in an uneven performance for many years. But – Stop Press – in October 2016, erstwhile owners, John & Julia Hoskins re-acquired the property after the latest regime ceased trading, and initiated a major re-building programme – so a return to form may well be on the cards at this old favourite.
“Still on good form”, a longtime haunt of undergrads and their parents, just outside Cambridge, which benefits from a “delightful conservatory”; on most accounts the food is “lovely” too, but there’s the odd gripe that its “over ambitious” menu “does not deliver on its promise”.
