Breaking news

January 2018: Ben Chapman's popular Thai BBQ spot closed on 14 January to make way for London's new Crossrail. Luckily he opened a second location in Shoreditch in late-2017 so this isn't goodbye. From 11-13 January the restaurant will host the 'Last Days of the Goat Dinners' at both lunch and dinner with their famous fish sauce wings on the house.

“Small plates maybe, but with big, big flavours”: Ben Chapman’s “zingy” Thai-inspired BBQ delivers “some real standout dishes” in a “dark and atmospheric” – if “hipster-infested” – Soho setting, where “they also serve decent beers on tap”. “Now and again they miss, but when they get it right they really nail it”. ‘Smoking Goat 2.0’ opens in its spiritual home of Shoreditch in October 2017; the new place will be bigger, and the menu will focus on serving just a couple of signature Thai dishes each day. Top Menu Tip – “fiery chicken wings and scallop with chilli”.

For 30 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
