“The perfect summer canalside fish restaurant” – this Little Venice charmer makes the best of “a delightful waterside setting”, with “well-spaced tables and a calm atmosphere”. The cooking is barely mentioned by reporters, although there are no complaints beyond the suggestion that it’s “a bit overpriced”.

“On a summer day you forget you’re in the middle of the city” at this canalside spot in lovely Little Venice. Fans say its fish and seafood likewise “warrants a journey”, but it can also feel very “expensive”, and too many reporters say “it’s all about the location” nowadays, citing “very average” cooking and “disappointing service”, too.

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"First visit. Friendly, helpful staff and well cooked staples. Wine seemed to be chosen with some expertise and care. The setting, by the canal, might be seen as romantic but watching a semi-naked houseboat owner carrying out his chores was more humorous than romantic. A noisy place but no criticism for that - fun."
