“Sitting by the canal is relaxing, and in cooler weather the heaters are turned on and the entire experience is warm and welcoming” at this “beautiful” spot by the Regent’s Canal in Little Venice. Views diverge on the fish-centric cooking: to fans it produces “well-cooked staples”, to the odd harsh critic the performance is verging on “unskilled”. All agree, though, that “personal and un-rushed service” contributes to its appeal.

“Ducks and houseboats drift slowly by” at this tranquil spot that’s all decked out in a white-and-blue nautical theme in Little Venice, which has a “perfect location right on Regent’s Canal”. But while nobody questions the “views and great vibe”, there’s a minority “who wanted to like the place, but wish the food was more consistent”. For most folks though, “what is not to like about this buzzing restaurant right on the canal serving lovely fresh fish?”

“The perfect summer canalside fish restaurant” – this Little Venice charmer makes the best of “a delightful waterside setting”, with “well-spaced tables and a calm atmosphere”. The cooking is barely mentioned by reporters, although there are no complaints beyond the suggestion that it’s “a bit overpriced”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
